The KEF story is one rich in inspirational thinking, meticulous attention-to-detail and above all, a passionate advocacy for the ART OF MUSIC. No history of the audio industry would be complete without mention of KEF, a British company founded in 1961 through the drive and insight of Raymond Cooke OBE, and the technical and organizational acumen of its highly talented and dedicated workforce that has brought five decades of innovative and stylish audio products to consumers all over the world.

What has not and never will be ignored is the beautiful union of acoustic expertise and industrial design that has produced the world’s finest audio equipment – products that have been lauded world-wide.

On October 2 1961, Raymond Cooke OBE (1925-1995) founds KEF to pioneer the use of synthetic materials in creating superior speakers.

In 1971, KEF becomes the first company to use computers in loudspeaker testing and design.

The 1980’s sees the emergence of KEF's signature technology: the Uni-Q point source driver array.

In 1992, KEF is acquired by the Gold Peak Group. KEF becomes a pioneer in home theater systems.

In 2000, KEF introduces the KHT2005, the first of the iconic, highly successful “Egg” series of home theatre speakers.

KEF launches the LS50 monitor speaker and the KEF LS50 Wireless speaker system which is entered into the What Hifi? Hall of Fame for 2017.

Right from the start, we pioneered the use of synthetic materials for diaphragms and driver surrounds to maintain consistent sound quality across the frequency range.

Founded in 1924, Celestion has grown to become one of the world’s largest and most innovative manufacturers of professional loudspeakers.

Responsible for the first ever dedicated guitar speaker, Celestion drivers have become the ‘voice of rock & roll’, delivering many of the most memorable performances by guitarists including Jimi Hendrix and Slash through to the current crop of high-octane shredders.

Our innovation in LF and compression drivers places Celestion at the heart of the professional sound reinforcement industry, relied upon by many of the world’s leading manufacturers to deliver the sound of a great show.

As part of the electronics division within Gold Peak Group, GP Acoustics Group (GPA) specializes in design, sales and marketing of high-fidelity professional and consumer acoustic products in over 60 countries across the globe. Comprising two world-renowned brands, KEF and Celestion, GPA boasts a research and development team that is one of the best within the speaker industry, complemented with a strong manufacturing base in both the UK and China.

From Concept to Realization

HOW THEY DO IT

Other manufacturers source the key parts to build their loudspeakers from individual suppliers. These key parts are then shipped to their factory where the end product is manufactured. From their drivers, cabinets to their electronics and other hardware, each element is sourced from different suppliers, ultimately affecting the final product for the end consumer. No two speakers can be the same.

HOW WE DO IT

KEF, on the other hand, sources raw materials to build the key elements of our award winning loudspeakers, and manufactures them all at our OWN owned and operated facilities. From our patented technologies, right down to the electronics, a KEF loudspeaker is designed and built from the ground up by KEF engineers and technicians. This ensures our ability to provide a consistent product to our customers – far beyond the capabilities of our competitors.
